The Adidome Community Library, the first public library in the district, was inaugurated on 4 December 2025, marking Ghana’s 140th public library and a milestone in expanding access to knowledge across communities.

Adidome Welcomes Its First Public Library

The Adidome Community Library, the first public library in the district, was officially inaugurated on 4 December 2025.The ceremony was led by Togbe Kwasinyi Kakaklolo Agyeman V, Dufia of Adidome, alongside Mr. Ziblim Alhassan Betintiche, Acting Executive Director of the Ghana Library Authority (GhLA), the CH Group Foundation, and key community stakeholders.The library aims to serve as a central hub for learning, research, and community engagement, providing residents with free access to books, digital resources, and educational programmes.

Ghana Now Has 140 Public Libraries

The unveiling of the Adidome Community Library brings the total number of public libraries in Ghana to 140. This milestone highlights the sustained efforts of the Ghana Library Authority and its partners to ensure equitable access to knowledge across urban and rural communities.

Collaboration and Community Impact

The project reflects a strong collaboration between traditional leadership, government agencies, and private foundations.Togbe Kwasinyi Kakaklolo Agyeman V emphasized that the library is a testament to the community’s commitment to education and the belief that “every community deserves access to knowledge.”Mr. Ziblim Alhassan Betintiche of GhLA reaffirmed the Authority’s dedication to expanding library services nationwide, stating that public libraries play a crucial role in literacy development, lifelong learning, and community empowerment.
