The National Service Scheme ( NSS) 2019/20 Nurses’ batch of the Keta Municipal Assembly has reached out to some basic schools in the Keta Municipality on Cholera Prevention Mechanisms.
The Personnel, with funding from Selfless for Africa (S4A), a Non-Governmental Organization ,has reached out to pupils of Bishop Herman R.C Basic School, Norlivime and Salvation Army Basic School.
The personnel ,on August 1,2019 ,engaged the school children on the need to ensure proper food handling and hand washing techniques to properly prepare them against any form of Cholera Outbreak in the Keta Municipality.
The decision to take up the initiative was in response to a CHOLERA ALERT notice from the Keta Municipal Health Directorate.
As part of the outreach, the pupils were educated on Cholera, Practices and Techniques of Proper Hand washing, distribution of leaflets on prevention of cholera and what to do when signs and symptoms resurface.
The NSS Personnel also donated ‘Veronica Buckets’ with stands and carbolic soaps to the two schools to enhance good water and sanitation hygiene among the school children.
