“UCC extends Teaching Practice-2024 to January 31, 2025, addressing supervision challenges and ensuring quality teacher training for trainee educators.”

The University of Cape Coast’s (UCC) College of Education Studies has announced an extension of the Teaching Practice-2024 program from December 2024 to January 31, 2025.

The decision comes in response to two significant challenges: the delayed reporting of Form One students and insufficient supervision for trainee teachers participating in the program.

This update, communicated through a reference letter (CTPD/TPG/16/VOL.3/0055) dated September 2, 2024, highlights the university’s commitment to ensuring a comprehensive and effective teaching practice experience for its students.

Ensuring Quality Supervision and Training

The extension allows for adequate supervision and guidance of trainee teachers, ensuring that they meet the expected teaching standards and gain practical experience essential for their professional growth.

Implications for Trainee Teachers

Trainee teachers are encouraged to remain focused and utilize the extended period to refine their teaching methodologies and classroom management skills.

Supervisors are also urged to use this additional time to provide the necessary mentorship and evaluations.

This adjustment underscores UCC’s dedication to upholding the quality of its teacher training programs, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to contribute effectively to the educational sector.
