Thief apprehended at University of Ghana’s Mensah Sarbah Hall

A suspected thief, believed to be his in late 20’s, is in the grip of the Legon Police Station for stealing the belongings of some residents of the Mensah Sarbah Hall of the University of Ghana.

The man, who gave his name as Mohammed Seini, was first apprehended by two students, Anthony Offei and Perry Agyarko.

According an eyewitness, Mohammed Seini was seen walking about at the Ladies’ block of the Hall and his posture made them suspect that he was up to trouble.

“I saw him walking about the hall and immediately I knew he was up to something. I followed him from the 1st floor to the ground floor where I saw him take some items on corridor. I quickly entered the room and asked those inside if they had belongings outside. They answered in the affirmative,” the witness told UniversNews.

Anthony Offei and Perry Agyarko, both residents of the Commonwealth Hall who came to visit their friend in the said room then rushed out and went after Mohammed Seini.

According to the two, although they reported the incident at the Porter’s Lodge and to a security man at the Annex B of the Legon Hall, they were advised to pursue the alleged thief themselves.

Anthony Offei and Perry Agyarko added that upon searching Mohammed Seini, a knife and a bunch of keys were found on him.

They added that they were brought the thief to the Porter’s Lodge of the Sarbah Hall where the officer on duty called for the transfer of the alleged thief to the Legon Police Station for interrogations and subsequent investigations.

Today’s incident makes it the second time in two weeks for a thief to be apprehended at the Sarbah Hall
