“KETASCO put on a dominant display to defeat Koforidua Sec.Tech and St. John’s Grammar School in the one-eighth stage of the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Competition, scoring an impressive 70 points and securing their spot in the Quarter-finals.”

 

In a display of academic excellence and sheer brilliance, Keta SHTS (KETASCO) soared to victory during the One-eighth stage contest at the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2023.

The competition unfolded at the prestigious Kumapley Auditorium, featuring three remarkable schools: Keta SHTS, Koforidua Sec. Tech (“Mmarima Mma”), and St. John’s Grammar School.

Koforidua Sec. Tech had previously secured qualification with a robust score of 66 points in the Prelims, setting the stage for an intense battle.

KETASCO, a seeded school, showcased their academic prowess with a stunning score of 70 points, securing a spot in the Quarter-finals. Their impressive performance also earned them the coveted Goil Riddle Bonanza Prize for answering all four questions correctly.

The 30th Anniversary edition of the NSMQ commenced on October 6, 2023, marking a historic milestone. This year’s competition has been hosted in two distinct regions: KNUST in Kumasi and the National Theatre in Accra

. It’s the first time the National Championship spans across two regions. KNUST was the venue for the Preliminary four stages, with the Grand Finale set to captivate audiences at the National Theatre.

The captivating competition began with three formidable contestants at the Kumapley Auditorium. KETASCO surged ahead with a remarkable score of 41 points at the end of Rounds One and Two.

As the contest unfolded, both St. John’s Grammar and Koforidua Sec. Tech decided to make substitutions before Round Three.

By the conclusion of Rounds Four and Five, KETASCO maintained a comfortable lead with a total of 70 points, securing their well-deserved spot in the Quarter-finals. The esteemed Goil Riddle Bonanza Prize of GH1,600 was also claimed by KETASCO for their exemplary performance.
