The Chairman of the All Teachers’ Alliance -Ghana (ATAG-GH), a very vibrant and a new Teacher Union under the Ghana Education, Isaac Ofori has been allegedly involved in a fraud involving GHS 50,000.
According to reports reaching EducationGhana.net , the Chairman has taken a loan of GHS 50,000 from GCB Bank Limited as honorarium to reward himself as Christmas package.
This amount is currently being paid by the Union to the Bank at an interest rate of 34% per annum. This amounts to embezzlement under the Financial Administration Act.
Suspicious financial misconducts by the chairman
According to information reaching EducationGhana.net , the chairman allegedly bought a car for the union without recourse to the laid down procedures of the association.
He is said to allegedly Change the associations constitution on his own to favour him,took a loan of GHC50,000 for an unknown activity ( allegedly to pursue his masters) which the union is paying.
Isaac Ofori allegedly bribed CAGD to forcibly add teachers to the union to the tune of about Ghc50,000 without consultations with his executives.
The association does not have an internal auditor and hence accounts presented are not audited. A copy of the accounts is not made available for members of the Association.
The communications director has been removed from ATAG because he called for audit of the Association’s accounts.
