The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the release of the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) placement results, which assign candidates to government secondary and technical/vocational education and training (TVET) schools.

In a statement the Ministry of Education reported that out of the 563,339 results received from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), a total of 553,155 candidates qualified for placement. Among them, 447,698 candidates (80.93%) were automatically assigned to one of their selected schools.

However, 104,918 qualified candidates did not secure a match with their preferred schools. The Ministry further explained that 73,390 (13.27%) of these candidates received placements in schools similar to those they selected, with the option to accept or reject the offer. For those who wish to change their assigned schools, the Self-Placement platform allows them to make new selections based on available vacancies.

Self-Placement for Candidates Without a Placement Match

If you were not matched with any school on your original list, you can access the Self-Placement platform to select from available schools with open spots. The self-placement portal allows students to choose their desired school, region, residential preference, and program. Students can change their self-placement options as many times as needed until they finalize their selection and enroll in a school.

This self-placement process enables candidates to have control over their selection, ensuring they find a school that best suits their needs and preferences.

Note on Finalizing Self-Placement Choices

Once a student confirms their self-placement choice by enrolling, the selection is locked. Candidates should review all options carefully before making a final decision. Schools with available spaces are loaded onto the portal for easy access, allowing candidates to explore options until they are satisfied with their choice.

For additional support, students are encouraged to consult their school administrators or visit a placement help center.

This article provides candidates with a clear, step-by-step guide on checking their placement results and making informed decisions about self-placement options if needed.
