GUPS President to attend The ABDEL NASSER LEADERSHIP FELLOWSHIP in Cairo, Egypt

The President of the Ghana Union of Professional Students (GUPS), Justice Aboagye Sarpong has left Ghana, to represent Ghanaian students in the Nasser Fellowship for African Emerging Leaders in Cairo Egypt.
 
The Fellowship for African leadership”, was launched by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Egypt (the African Youth Bureau, the Parliament’s Headquarters and Civic Education) under the auspices of Dr. Moustafa Madbouli, President of the Cabinet of Ministers,  from 8th-22nd June, 2019 in partnership with the Pan-African Youth Union.
 
This Fellowship is one of the mechanisms implemented as the “1 Million by 2021” initiative which aims at training one million young Africans by 2021 and was launched by the AU Commission on Science, Technology and Human Resources.
The Fellowship is expected to popularize the authentic Egyptian experience in national institution-building .
The fellowship also aims at creating  a new generation of young African transformational leaders with a vision that aligns with the Egyptian presidency of the African Union in serving the goals of African unity
through integration, training, capacity building, the development of strategic visions, as well as organizing meetings for the most influential young leaders at the continental level.
 
While there, Mr. Sarpong shall hold bilateral engagements with other Student and Youth Leaders on matters of mutual consent among others.
 
The president in a discussion with harrygraphic.com expressed appreciation to the Deputy Secretary General of Pan African Youth Union, Ahmed Bening, Former  NUGS President, Elisha Oheneba Essumang and Tinkaro Asare Osei, National NUGS President for believing in him and giving him such an opportunity.
 
He indicated that this all important summit will help add a voice of the Ghanaian student to other voices to help seek  workable solution to solve the numerous challenges on the African continent.This  initiative is important because it instills sense of patriotism in the African youth. 
 
President Aboagye-Sarpong is expected back in the country on the 23rd June, 2019. In his absence, the Union’s Treasurer, Kingsley Kofi Yeboah shall in accordance with the Union’s constitution act in his stead as President.
