The Ghana Education Service (GES) has received financial clearance for the payment of salaries to 6,249 teachers recruited in 2024, ensuring they are placed on the mechanised payroll by November 2025.

GES Receives Financial Clearance for Newly Recruited Teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it has officially received financial clearance for the payment of salaries to 6,249 teachers recruited in 2024.

In a statement dated October 16, 2025, and signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, the Service confirmed that the Ministry of Finance has granted approval to complete all necessary processes to ensure timely payment to the affected staff.

Clearance Covers 2024 Recruits

According to the statement, the clearance allows GES to pay all remaining teachers who were recruited during the 2024 exercise but had not yet been placed on the government’s mechanised payroll.

“This approval allows the Ghana Education Service to complete all necessary processes to ensure the staff receive their salaries,” the release stated.

The financial clearance, which expires on 31st December 2025, is expected to pave the way for all the newly recruited teachers to be paid their November 2025 salaries without further delay.

Assurance of Timely Payment

Management of the Ghana Education Service expressed gratitude to the affected staff for their patience and dedication throughout the process. The Service further assured all teachers that it remains committed to ensuring timely and accurate salary payments.

“Management thanks all staff for their dedication and remains committed to facilitating timely and accurate salary payments,” the statement concluded.

Background

The Ghana Education Service, under the Ministry of Education, continues to collaborate with the Ministry of Finance to regularise the financial status of new recruits across various regions. This step forms part of broader efforts by the government to strengthen the education workforce and enhance teaching and learning quality in public schools.

Since 2024, GES has embarked on several recruitment drives to fill vacancies, particularly in basic and senior high schools, to ensure equitable teacher distribution and improve instructional standards nationwide.
