In a heartfelt national message, the Ghana Education Service (GES) says the 2025 WASSCE results reflect the true performance of Ghanaian students and calls for collective support to strengthen teaching and learning.

A Touching Appeal to the Nation

The Ghana Education Service has issued a deeply moving public statement following the release of the 2025 WASSCE results. The Service describes this year’s outcome as “the honest performance of our children” and asks the nation to approach the discussion with empathy and understanding.

According to GES, the 2025 results reflect the genuine academic abilities of senior high school students across the country. Officials say the figures present a clear picture of the state of learning in schools, the real challenges students face and the areas that require national attention.

GES Speaks Against Unfounded Claims

The statement also addresses the growing public debate sparked by comments from former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei-Adutwum. GES explains that the suggestion of mismanagement or deliberate sabotage is not supported by any evidence.

The Service says no allowances were cancelled, and that the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department has already clarified the temporary delay in November payments. GES is therefore asking Ghanaians to treat the criticism as an attempt to shift blame rather than a contribution to meaningful dialogue on education.

Integrity Above All

A significant part of the statement reflects GES’s commitment to credible examinations. Officials explain that strict supervision was necessary this year to protect the dignity of national assessments.
Schools across the country operated under heavy monitoring, stronger invigilation and reinforced protocols designed to curb malpractice. These measures led to the arrest and removal of students and staff who attempted to cheat.

GES insists that an examination system that allows malpractice ultimately harms students and weakens schools. The Service believes the 2025 WASSCE marks a turning point toward a more transparent, trustworthy and respected national assessment process.

The Emotional Weight on Students

GES acknowledges that many students prepared for the examination under pressure. Some struggled with limited resources, long study hours and anxiety about their performance. The Service says these young people deserve encouragement rather than public criticism, especially at a time when national discourse can easily affect their morale.

Parents, teachers and community leaders are being urged to offer steady emotional support to students as they transition into the next stage of their lives, whether tertiary education, vocational training or direct employment.

Looking Ahead to the 2026 International WASSCE

In the closing part of the release, GES reminds the public that Ghana will rejoin the international May/June WASSCE in 2026.
This means students will sit the same examination as their colleagues in all West African member states.
The Service is therefore encouraging early preparation, improved study habits and calm learning environments that allow students to focus fully.

A Call for Unity and Commitment

GES asks the country to avoid divisive political arguments and instead come together to strengthen school infrastructure, teacher support systems and student welfare. The Service believes the path forward requires unity, not blame.

Officials conclude that Ghana’s children deserve honesty, fairness and a national education system built on integrity. The 2025 WASSCE, they say, is a reminder that progress begins with truth.
