Deputy Education Minister Dr. Clement Abass Apaak has hosted Namibia’s Teaching Service Committee on a study tour of Ghana’s education reforms and later visited the school placement resolution centre to monitor ongoing support for parents and students.
Namibian Delegation on Study Visit
On September 1, the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abass Apaak, received a high-powered delegation from the Namibian Teaching Service Committee who are on a study visit to Ghana.
The delegation, led by Chairperson and Commissioner Habate Doseses, is in the country to understudy Ghana’s education reforms, innovations, policy direction, and regulatory framework.
Dr. Apaak encouraged the team to contextualize their findings to Namibia’s unique realities as they work toward reforming their Teaching Council into an autonomous institution.
He stressed the importance of proper documentation, while cautioning them about the potential challenges and financial implications of such reforms.
Namibia Commends Ghana’s Policies
Madam Habate Doseses commended Ghana’s Ministry of Education for its robust policies and the structured approach of its regulatory bodies.
She noted that Ghana is one of only two African countries that Namibia has benchmarked in its reform process.
She expressed Namibia’s readiness to replicate Ghana’s model and praised the institution of the Best Teacher Prize Award, describing it as a significant motivation and incentive for teachers.
Deputy Minister Monitors School Placement Resolution
Later in the day, Dr. Apaak visited the School Placement Resolution Centre to observe ongoing support being provided to parents and students facing challenges with this year’s Senior High School placement exercise.
He urged parents and guardians to remain calm, assuring them that the Ministry is working tirelessly to ensure that all qualified students are placed. He further called for patience among stakeholders, reminding them that students are expected to report to school on October 18, 2025.
Role of the Resolution Centre
The Resolution Centre serves as a one-stop hub for addressing placement concerns. Officers provide assistance on the self-placement system, resolve technical issues, and guide parents through the process to guarantee that every eligible student secures a place in a senior high school.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to transparency, fairness, and efficiency in the placement exercise, assuring the public that no student will be left behind. —
