EducationGhana| March 26| Corruption at GES: The District Education Directorate (DEO) of the South Tongu District in the Volta region has begun investigations into alleged extortion of monies by the IPPD officer from newly trained teachers.
The directorate began their investigation after EducationGhana’s Ellis Ferdinand published a story, alleging the Directorate of extorting monies from teachers most especially the newly trained before processing their documents.

The district during their investigation released a caution statement to all officers and staff within the district, entreating them to desist from taking unauthorised monies from teachers before processing of their documents.
The teachers were also advised to accept receipt of all financial commitments at the office.
Background
Credible information gathered by EducationGhana’s Ellis Ferdiand indicates that the IPPD Officer of the District was in charge of the collection of such illegal monies from the newly trained teachers.
The IPPD officer, Mr Godwin Aniaka according to reports has been the chief architect of the illegal;l business in the directorate.

It has become very unfortunate to charge teachers to process documents that are supposed to be processed by the directorate for teachers as part of their responsibilities.
The payment Structure
According to reports, the IPPD officer has selected one newly trained teacher who works as his middle man in the dissemination of all important information to the newly trained teachers.

The payment was made in two folds, either by physical cash or via mobile money transaction to the IPPD office.
