EducationGhana| March 26| Corruption at GES: The District Education Directorate (DEO) of the South Tongu District in the Volta region has begun investigations into alleged extortion of monies by the IPPD officer from newly trained teachers.

The directorate began their investigation after EducationGhana’s Ellis Ferdinand published a story, alleging the Directorate of extorting monies from teachers most especially the newly trained before processing their documents.

The district during their investigation released a caution statement to all officers and staff within the district, entreating them to desist from taking unauthorised monies from teachers before processing of their documents.

The teachers were also advised to accept receipt of all financial commitments at the office.

Credible information gathered by EducationGhana’s Ellis Ferdiand indicates that the IPPD Officer of the District was in charge of the collection of such illegal monies from the newly trained teachers.
