The Ghana Education Service (GES) and its partner the West African Examination Council (WAEC) are closely monitoring the coronavirus pandemic situation to choose a suitable date to conduct the postponed 2020 BECE and WASSCE for school candidates, Deputy Education Minister, Osei Yaw Adutwum has said.
According to Osei Yaw Adutwum, the two annual national examinations have not been entirely cancelled or called off rather it has been postponed to a later date which will be announced at the appropriate time by the Management of the GES and WAEC.
“Therefore all students, especially 2020 BECE and WASSCE candidates are to make use of their time and their stay at home as a temporal school break amid the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic to learn their notes”. he said.
He advised that as a final year student you should prepare adequately so that when “government makes the determination that you are going to take your exam….you would be ready”.
As to if the examination would be written or cancelled depends solely on the government, “when the current situation is restored to normalcy the government will decide the position of the exams”.
