The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has rescheduled the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for school and private candidates to June 10–17, owing to the observance of Eid‑ul‑Adha on June 9.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a change to the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) timetable for both school and private candidates. The exams will now run from Tuesday, June 10 to Tuesday, June 17, 2025, following the declaration of Monday, June 9 as a public holiday in observance of Eid‑ul‑Adha.

Originally slated to begin on June 9, the BECE’s new timetable maintains the sequence and structure of subjects under the new curriculum but shifts all papers by one day. Highlights include:

  • June 10, 2025: Social Studies and Computing papers
  • June 11, 2025: English Language and Career Technology
  • June 12, 2025: Science and Ghanaian Language
  • June 13, 2025: Mathematics and Religious & Moral Education
  • June 16, 2025: French and Creative Arts & Design
  • June 17, 2025: Arabic papers

The adjustment ensures candidates and exam staff can fully observe the festive holiday without compromising the integrity and flow of the examination.

Candidates are advised to verify their exact subject schedules and reporting times on the council’s official website or through their school examination officers. All other examination regulations and guidelines remain unchanged.
