UPSA student shines in KPMG Internal Audit Writing Competition 2024

Merabel Nana-Attakora, a third-year student at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has distinguished herself nationally by placing second in the 2024 KPMG Internal Audit Awareness Month Student Article Writing Competition.

The competition attracted more than 40 entries from tertiary students across Ghana, each addressing the timely and significant topic, “The Future of Internal Audit: Embracing Innovation and Disruption.”

Known for its rigorous standards and the high calibre of submissions, the Student Article Writing Competition aims to encourage critical thinking and innovative perspectives among students aspiring to careers in internal audit.

In her winning article, Merabel who is pursuing a BSc Accounting and Finance programme at the Department of Accounting, explored the transformative impact of emerging trends and technologies on the field of internal audit.

Her work highlighted not only the challenges but also the immense opportunities that these technological advancements present to the auditing profession.

Merabel’s article stood out for its insightful analysis and forward-thinking approach, earning her a position in the top three submissions.

Dean of the UPSA Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Professor Isaac Boadi, expressed immense pride in Merabel’s achievement, stating that “her success is a testament to her dedication, intellectual rigour, and the quality of education we strive to provide at UPSA.”

“We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and are confident she will continue to excel in her future endeavours,” Prof Boadi said.

Prof Boadi emphasised that Merabel’s recognition at the competition underscores the growing talent and potential within UPSA’s student body and reaffirms the institution’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and professional development.
