The much-anticipated 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) finals commenced in Cape Coast, Central Region, on Monday, October 14, 2024, featuring intense academic battles between three prominent schools: Archbishop Porter Girls’, Mfantsiman Girls’, and Simms Senior High School. The three schools delivered remarkable performances, securing their spots in the 1/8th stage of the competition and making their schools proud.
Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS Dominates at CNC Auditorium
In a captivating contest held at the CNC auditorium in Cape Coast, Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS demonstrated a strong grasp of scientific and mathematical principles. Competing against Wenchi Methodist and Ejisuman Senior High Schools, the “School on the Hill of Tranquility” clinched victory with an impressive score of 45 points. Ejisuman SHS finished second with 32 points, while Wenchi Methodist SHS secured 26 points. Archbishop Porter Girls’ triumph has invigorated their quest for the prestigious NSMQ trophy, bringing pride to the school community.
Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS Shines at UCC Auditorium
Meanwhile, Mfantsiman Girls’ SHS showcased exceptional academic prowess at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) auditorium. They led the contest against West Africa Senior High School and Zion College from start to finish, emerging victorious with 44 points. The competition was stiff, with West Africa SHS closely following at 42 points and Zion College at 40 points. Mfantsiman’s victory cements their place in the next round, as they continue their journey toward winning Ghana’s most sought-after science and mathematics competition.
Simms SHS Secures Victory at UCC School of Graduate Studies
Simms Senior High School also made a significant mark, winning their contest at the School of Graduate Studies auditorium, UCC. Their score of 43 points outperformed Kpando Senior High School, which scored 38, and Hope College, which earned 36 points. Simms’ success in this tight contest adds momentum to their campaign for the NSMQ title, highlighting their determination and skill.
