University of Ghana Launches Self-Placement Module for Admission Applicants
The University of Ghana has introduced a self-placement system to assist qualified applicants who were not admitted into their preferred programs. This initiative enables applicants to select from available programs through the UG admissions portal.
Steps for Self-Placement at the University of Ghana
1. Check Admission Status
Begin by checking if you have received any admission notification from the University of Ghana. If not, proceed with self-placement.
2. Login to the Admissions Portal
Use your application credentials (username and password) to log in to the University of Ghana admissions portal.

Once logged in, navigate to the “Self-Placement” or “Program Selection” section. Here, you will find a list of available programs that match your qualifications.
4. Select a Suitable Program
Browse through the available options, considering the required WASSCE subjects and grades (minimum credit passes in six subjects, including three core and three electives, with an aggregate score of 24 or better). Ensure your selection aligns with your academic strengths and interests.
5. Confirm Self-Placement Choice
After selecting your preferred program, confirm your choice. You will receive a confirmation message or email notifying you of your successful placement.
6. Visit the Admissions Helpdesk if Needed
For assistance, visit the UG Admissions Helpdesk at the UG Information Center near the main entrance. The helpdesk is available to guide students through the process.
7. Monitor Your Application Status
Regularly check your email and admissions portal for further updates regarding your application. The admissions process is expected to conclude by the end of January.
8. Prepare for Matriculation
Once your placement is confirmed, get ready for the next steps, including orientation, registration, and other matriculation activities.
