Tragedy in Ghana: 28-Year-Old Nurse Dies After Alleged Botched Abortion Attempt by Boyfriend

28-year-old Ghanaian nurse, Gifty Kyere, dies after boyfriend allegedly attempts to abort her pregnancy using unsafe methods. Public calls for investigation and justice.

A deeply disturbing incident has emerged involving a 28-year-old Ghanaian nurse, Gifty Kyere, who tragically lost her life under suspicious circumstances while at her boyfriend’s residence.

According to early reports, Gifty’s parents believed she was attending school; however, it was later revealed that she had been secretly staying with her boyfriend, Edmond Ayemah, at the time of her death.

Initially, Edmond claimed that Gifty suffered a fatal asthma attack. However, new developments have cast doubt on that account. Family sources and eyewitness accounts suggest that Edmond may have attempted to terminate Gifty’s pregnancy using unorthodox methods, which allegedly led to fatal complications.

Tragically, Edmond reportedly failed to seek urgent medical help due to a lack of funds, leading to further speculation and public outcry over the negligence involved.

Gifty’s father confirmed that she had recently visited their family home to collect school fees and personal items, under the pretense of returning to school. Her unexpected death has left family and friends in shock, demanding a thorough investigation.

Community Reaction and Concerns

The case has sparked widespread concern across Ghana, with many calling for a deeper probe into unsafe abortion practices, youth counseling gaps, and the lack of emergency medical response in private domestic settings.

Human rights advocates and health professionals have also weighed in, urging authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and to address the social and health system failures that led to this preventable tragedy.
