The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is running 299 academic programs that have not been accredited by the institution responsible for accreditation, the National Accreditation Board.
This information was revealed by the Auditor-General’s report for 2021 which has been published on the Auditor general’s department website.
The report from the country’s chief auditor stated that, out of the 360 programmes run by the University, only 61 have been accredited, of which 190 have been sent to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for accreditation and reaccreditation with 109 yet to be submitted to National Accreditation Board for accreditation.
Following this revelation, the Auditor-General has recommended to the Management of the University to cease running programmes that are not accredited or have their accredited certificates expired, until they are accredited or renewed, to avoid sanctions from the accreditation agency.
