Important Notes for Students

The document also provides key financial notes for all teacher trainees and college administrators:

  1. Feeding Fees:
Feeding remains part of the government-funded Students’ Allowance and will be paid directly by the government to the colleges.
  2. Examination Fees:
Exams are conducted by affiliate universities, with an average cost of GHS 1,060.00 per year. This charge is separate from the PRINCOF fee schedule.
  3. Residential Fees:
Students residing in college hostels will pay GHS 500.00 per semester, making GHS 1,000.00 per academic year.
  4. Digital Resources Fee:
Each student will pay GHS 600.00 annually for access to digital academic resources and platforms.
  5. TTAG Project Levy:
All students will contribute a GHS 30.00 levy toward the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) national projects.

Fee Structure Aligned with Academic Reforms

The new fees align with ongoing reforms in Ghana’s teacher education sector, aimed at improving academic quality, digital access, and infrastructure across colleges.
According to PRINCOF, the inclusion of a Digital Resources Fee supports the National Teacher Education Digital Transformation Agenda, ensuring that teacher trainees have access to e-learning materials and updated professional tools.

Reaction from Stakeholders

Preliminary feedback from students and education analysts suggests that while the increase in some components—especially in Level 100—may strain new entrants, the consistency across levels promotes fairness and fiscal discipline.
Some trainee leaders have also urged the government to maintain timely disbursement of allowances to reduce financial burdens on students.

Next Steps

Colleges of Education are expected to officially circulate the 2025/2026 academic year fee breakdowns to all continuing and fresh students in the coming weeks. Payment timelines and bank details will be communicated by individual college administrations once academic calendars are finalized.
