President John Dramani Mahama will officially launch the National Education Forum on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in Ho, Volta Region. This highly anticipated event, spearheaded by the National Education Forum Planning Committee, marks a major step toward education reform and transformation in Ghana.

The forum, under the theme “Transforming Education for a Sustainable Future,” aims to evaluate and enhance the nation’s education policies, infrastructure, and regulatory framework.

Key Focus Areas of the National Education Forum

According to Professor K. T. Oduro, Chairman of the Planning Committee, the National Education Forum will focus on five key pillars that are critical to education reform:

1️⃣ Infrastructure – Addressing the growing demand for classrooms, technology, and learning resources.

2️⃣ Quality Education – Ensuring that schools provide relevant, up-to-date curricula and competent teachers.

3️⃣ Regulation and Accountability – Strengthening oversight and compliance in the education sector.

4️⃣ Financing – Discussing sustainable funding models for education.

5️⃣ Research and Data – Utilizing data-driven decision-making to enhance educational outcomes.

Consultative Dialogue and Stakeholder Engagement

Following the official launch on February 18, the National Education Forum will extend to a consultative dialogue scheduled for February 19-21, 2025.

This engagement will take place across selected zones in Ghana to gather insights from students, teachers, parents, education policymakers, and stakeholders.

Additionally, a validation conference will be held from February 27-28, 2025, at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). The final education policy recommendations will be presented to the Minister of Education on March 21, 2025.
