- Schools require sufficient resources to ensure quality learning environments.
- Funding improvements will help reduce infrastructure gaps and classroom shortages.
- Concerns over the three-tier pension scheme leave teachers anxious about retirement security.
- The government will assemble a working team to strengthen pension structures and provide peace of mind for retiring educators.
- GNAT warned of zero tolerance for assaults on teachers, with potential school closures for repeated attacks.
- President Mahama assured teachers, “As for assault on teachers, I am with you 100%. We will deal with it.”
GNAT’s Stern Warning
Reverend Owusu declared that 2026 would mark a zero-tolerance year for attacks on educators:“Should any individual or group attack any teacher in Ghana without cause, we shall invoke the spirit and solidarity of ‘touch one, touch all.’ If we have to close down schools, we will close down schools.”Why This Matters
- Addresses longstanding grievances over salaries and pensions.
- Strengthens teacher morale and retention in Ghana’s education system.
- Ensures safer classrooms for both teachers and students.
