Obrachire Circuit Launches Academic Board for Basic School Teachers

The Obrachire Circuit in the Awutu Senya District Education Directorate of the Central Region has launched an Academic Board for Basic Schools.

The Circuit Academic Board is primarily responsible for championing all academic activities in the Circuit.

The Board  was launched on Friday,May 17,2019 by the Circuit Supervisor Mrs. Grace Fletcher at the Obrachire Basic School Premises.

The ceremony saw representative board members from each school witnessing the event.

Speaking at the launch,the Guest Speaker ,Ellis Ferdinand ,an Education Blogger and Educationist ,spoke on the need for all Schools in the Country to have Academic Boards.

According to him,Academic Boards when instituted in Schools shall help lesson the pressure on head teachers and also allow for effective delegation of duties.

Ferdinand indicated,that when teachers feel involved in decision making,it helps in creating conducive environments for learning.

He emphasized that there was the need for members of the board in all the schools to coordinate their activities in order to set  a target for their pupils and teachers.

Ferdinand was optimistic the existence of the board shall make a positive impact on teaching and learning in all schools in the Circuit.

During the launch,the Circuit Supervisor Mrs. Grace Fletcher encouraged the members to introduce innovative ways of enhancing teaching and learning in their schools,

She encouraged the newly elected executives of the circuit board to task themselves on being the ”eye’ of academic affairs in the district.

Mrs. Grace Fletcher  tasked members of the board to live exemplary lives in all their endeavors as members of the board.

New Executives ere elected to manage the affairs of the  board on two-year tenure.

The launch was  witnessed by some distinguished personalities including the heads of all headteachers in the Circuit and the Deputy Secretary of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers ,Patrick Nii Sackey.

The Obrachire Circuit has become their first Circuit in the entire Central Region to take up such a decision under the leadership of its Supervisor.
