EducationGhana| February 22|Nomination for 2022 Ghana Teacher Prize: The National Teaching Council (NTC), organizers of the Ghana Teacher Prize, on Monday, February 07, 2022, officially opened the portal for applications and nominations for the 2022 Ghana Teacher Prize.
The objective of the Ghana Teacher Prize is to motivate teachers for higher performance and also boost respect for the profession. The Prize underscores the importance of the teaching profession and symbolizes the fact that teachers throughout the world deserve to be recognized and celebrated.

In October 2021, Mr Ebenezer Kojo Otoo, a 44-year-old teacher of Winneba Senior High School (SHS) in the Efutu Municipality of the Central Region was crowned Ghana’s Most Outstanding Teacher. For his prize, Mr Otoo received a GHC250,000.00 cheque for a three-bedroom house sponsored by GLICO Pension.
Rev. Sister Jacinta Kwakyewaa, a teacher at St. Francis SHS/Technical School in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region was adjudged the first runner-up and she received a brand new 4×4 pick-up vehicle sponsored by Prudential Bank.

Citations and cash prizes ranging between GHC5,000.00 and GHC7,000.00 as well as other valuable items were presented to other deserving teaching and non-teaching staff who distinguished themselves in other categories.
The ultimate prize is open to all professionally trained teachers currently working at the pre-tertiary education space (both public and private) and have taught for at least five (5) years.

The non-teaching category is open to all who are currently working at the pre-tertiary education institution (both public and private) and might have worked for at least five (5) years.
A new category has been introduced to acknowledge the critical role of teachers in educational leadership and administration. To qualify for this, one must be a professionally trained teacher currently working at the pre-tertiary education space (both public and private) and might have worked as a leader or an administrator for at least five (5) years.
