Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) has been crowned 2025 Western Zonal Champions of the NSMQ after a decisive win over Archbishop Porter Girls and Sekondi College.
GSTS Reigns Supreme in the West!
Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) has claimed the coveted Western Zonal Championship title in the ongoing National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2025, proving once again why they remain a force in Ghana’s science and mathematics competition circuit.
Final Scores:
- GSTS – 37 points 🏆
- Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS – 25 points
- Sekondi College—21points
This win not only cements GSTS’s reputation as one of the most consistent science powerhouses in Ghana but also qualifies them for the prestigious NSMQ 2025 National Championship.
🔬 Contest Highlights: Science in Action
Moderated by the dynamic Rachel Annoh (PhD), the contest saw intense intellectual exchanges and quick thinking from all three schools. GSTS pulled away early and maintained their lead through strong performances in the problem of the day and the speed race.
Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS, despite a powerful start, couldn’t close the gap, while Sekondi College displayed tenacity and grace under pressure.
“We prepared strategically for this contest, and the results speak for themselves,” said a jubilant team leader from GSTS.

Winning a zonal championship in the NSMQ is a major academic achievement and a gateway to national recognition in STEM excellence. GSTS will now battle Ghana’s elite schools for national glory at the final championship later this year.
