St. Augustine’s College has delivered a remarkable performance at the 2024 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), overwhelming T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, and Queen of Peace SHS with an impressive 73 points in their One-eighth Stage contest at Auditorium 900.

The 2019 NSMQ champions showcased their supremacy, securing a Quarter-final spot and positioning themselves as strong contenders for the Pepsodent Highest Scorer Award.

Electrifying Atmosphere and Spirited Support

The contest began amidst an electrifying atmosphere as enthusiastic chants from St. Augustine’s supporters filled the auditorium. The arrival of Quiz Mistress, Dr. Thelma Ohene-Agyei, and her reading of the ground rules brought the charged crowd to order, setting the stage for an epic battle.

Despite the home advantage, T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, and Queen of Peace SHS remained calm, with each contestant exuding confidence and determination to make it to the next stage.

 

Round One: A Commanding Start

St. Augustine’s College wasted no time in demonstrating their prowess, answering all Round One questions flawlessly and finishing with a commanding 25 points. T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, followed closely with 23 points, while Queen of Peace SHS struggled to keep up, managing only 8 points.

 

Dominance in the Prudential Life Insurance Speed Race

The Fishermen solidified their lead during the Prudential Life Insurance Speed Race, where every correct answer drew enthusiastic reactions from their supporters. With a series of rapid-fire correct answers, they boosted their score to 41 points by the end of Round Two. T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, lagged behind with 28 points, and Queen of Peace SHS faced an uphill battle with just 6 points.

 

Perfect Score in the ‘Problem of the Day’

The third round saw St. Augustine’s College delivering yet another flawless performance, achieving a perfect 10 in the ‘Problem of the Day’ round. Their precision kept the crowd cheering, while T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, secured 7 points, and Queen of Peace SHS managed only 2. The gap between St. Augustine’s College and their rivals widened, hinting at a decisive victory.

 

Unstoppable Momentum in the True/False Round

St. Augustine’s continued to dominate in the Jupay Money Transfer True/False round, ending with an impressive 67 points. T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, managed to reach 42 points, while Queen of Peace SHS still lagged far behind with 15 points.

 

Dramatic Finale in the GOIL Riddle Bonanza

The GOIL Riddle Bonanza brought a dramatic finish as St. Augustine’s College confidently sealed their victory by correctly answering the final riddle, ending the contest with 73 points. T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, fought hard but finished with 45 points, while Queen of Peace SHS wrapped up with 15 points.

The celebrations erupted with chants of “Chlorine, Chlorine, Chlorine!” from St. Augustine’s supporters, marking the triumphant end of a sensational contest.
