“GES empowers blind SHS teachers with laptops and ICT training, enhancing their ability to deliver the new secondary education curriculum effectively.”

The Ghana Education Service (GES), through its Special Education Division, has taken a groundbreaking step to empower blind teachers in senior high schools by providing laptops and organizing ICT training. This initiative is aimed at equipping these educators with the necessary tools and skills to effectively deliver the new secondary education curriculum.

Laptop Distribution

All blind teachers in senior high schools across Ghana are receiving specially designed laptops. These laptops come with accessibility features to enhance teaching and learning processes, ensuring inclusivity in the delivery of the secondary education curriculum.

ICT Training

GES is also organizing ICT training programs tailored specifically for blind teachers. This training focuses on equipping them with the digital skills needed to effectively utilize the laptops for curriculum delivery, assessment, and student engagement.

Purpose of the Program

The initiative aligns with GES’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence in education. By bridging the digital divide, the program ensures that visually impaired educators can perform at par with their peers and contribute significantly to the academic success of their students.

Impact on Education

This initiative empowers blind teachers to:

  • Access digital resources essential for implementing the new curriculum.
  • Use assistive technologies to enhance teaching methodologies.
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment that benefits students with and without disabilities.

Conclusion

GES’s commitment to inclusivity and innovation in education is evident through this initiative. By addressing the unique needs of blind teachers, the Special Education Division ensures that no educator is left behind in the journey toward transforming Ghana’s education system.
