The Ghana Education Service has said that as part of the New Education reforms,Pupils at the Primary level shall undertake a national assessment just like their seniors at the Basic Education Certificate Examination Level.
According to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service,Prof. Kwesi Amankwa , the decision is meant to identify the challenges pupils have.
The Director General said that Teachers will however continue with their class tests and works.
The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service,Prof. Kwesi Opoku Amankwa made this revelation on Starr FM,an Accra based radio station’s morning show dubbed ‘‘Time with the CEO” hosted by Francis Abban on Monday,April 15,2019.
The Director General indicated that the National Assessment shall be conducted for only Basic 2,4 AND 6 Pupils.

He said the new approach to studies in schools will ensure that children are able to fully grasp what is being taught bu teachers.
“Children need to be consistently assessed so the teacher, school, students and parents will know if their children are performing and acquiring knowledge as expected. At Primary 2,4 & 6, we’ll conduct national assessment to help us identify the challenges students have. Teachers will however continue with their class tests and works”.He said.
He however added that th assessment shall look at their competencies in the content learned,skills acquired and knowledge gained in their classroom activities.
