A District Magistrate Court at Ofaaakor, Kasoa, has sentenced a teacher and two university students to prison terms and fines for engaging in BECE exam malpractice, including impersonation and dictating answers to candidates.Teacher and Students Convicted for Examination MalpracticesThe District Magistrate Court at Ofaaakor, Kasoa, on 29th August 2025, convicted and sentenced three individuals for their involvement in examination malpractices during the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).The convicted persons include:
1. Samuel Armah, a teacher at Ghana College SHS.2. Kwame Oteng Nkansah, a Level 100 student of Accra Technical University.3. Amedeka James, a Level 100 student of the University of Ghana, Legon.Details of the Offences
Samuel Armah was caught with objective test answers to the Social Studies Paper 1 stored on his mobile phone. He was further found dictating these answers to candidates while serving as an invigilator.Kwame Oteng Nkansah was arrested for impersonating Quayson Francis Atta, a candidate of Ghana College SHS, during the Social Studies Papers 1 and 2.Amedeka James was apprehended for impersonating his twin brother, Amedeka Justice, also a candidate of Ghana College SHS, during the same examinationsCheck These Out:

Judgment of the Court
After reviewing the evidence, the Court handed down the following sentences:Samuel Armah—fined 80 penalty units and sentenced to 8 months’ imprisonment.Kwame Oteng Nkansah—fined 80 penalty units and sentenced to 6 months’ imprisonment.Amedeka James—fined 80 penalty units and sentenced to 6 months’ imprisonment.The Court stressed that the sentences were necessary to protect the integrity of Ghana’s education system and deter future offenders.Safeguarding Examination Integrity
