Reports reaching EducationGhana indicates that the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) has started paying the 2016 recruits of the Ghana Education Service (GES) their Salary Arrears.
According to reports, the payment has been effected by the banks to the accounts of the beneficiaries.
Victims threaten to vote for John Mahama
Teachers in the Ghana Education Service ( GES) who are being owed salary arrears have threatened to support the opposition National Democratic Congress ( NDC) and it’s flag bearer, John Mahama into election 2020 should the government delay the payment of their salary arrears before December 7, 2020.
The aggrieved Teachers in a statement issued on December 2, 2020 indicated, that the government showed enough signs of disrespect towards them in relation to the payment of the legally owed legacy arrears.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has admitted that the Government owes some 32.000 teachers legacy arrears.
The Director-General of the GES, Prof Kwesi Opoku Amankwa said this in an interview on United Television on Thursday, November 26, 2020.
Time for Payment of Arrears
According to him, the government has assured the GES of a possible payment of such allowances in December 2020.
Amount Available
The Director-General said government has made available some GH¢100,000,000 for the payment if the remaining salary arrears.
