The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) and the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) have held a meeting to discuss arrangements being put in place to ensure the safe reopening of Junior and Senior High schools.
President Akufo-Addo in his 10th nation’s address announced for schools to be reopened to final year students in Junior and Senior high schools effective June 22, 2020.
The President explained that the partial reopening of schools for only final year students in the country is to ensure they complete the 2019/2020 academic year and prepare for their final examination.

The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) at the meeting said its closely monitoring the implementation of these arrangements to ensure students and teachers are adequately protected.
The Coalition has assured parents and guardians that it will on behalf of them see to it that proper measures are put in place by the Government of Ghana (GoG) before final year students report to school on their respective dates.

The Minister for Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh in a press briefing said the government will equip students, teachers, and non-teaching staff with reusable washable face masks, alcohol-based hand sanitizer among other COVID-19 preventive items to ensure a safe reopening of schools on June 22, 2020.
As arranged by the government, final year students of the Senior High schools, with the Second Year Gold Track students; and Junior High finalists would reopen on June 22 and June 29, respectively.
