The Executive Director of the Ghana Library Authority, Mr. Ziblim Alhassan Betintiche, and his team have embarked on a regional familiarisation tour to assess the state of public libraries and ongoing projects in the Central, Western, and Western North Regions. 

GhLA Leadership Tours Three Regions to Assess Library Infrastructure

The Executive Director of the Ghana Library Authority (GhLA), Mr. Ziblim Alhassan Betintiche, has led a high-powered delegation on a familiarization tour of the Central, Western, and Western North Regions. The visit forms part of the Authority’s nationwide initiative to strengthen supervision, monitor infrastructural progress, and engage with local library staff and management.Accompanying Mr. Betintiche were the Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Israel Yao Dzantor, and other senior officials of the Authority. 

Libraries Visited

During the tour, the team visited and inspected operations at the following libraries:1. Agona Swedru Library 2. Effutu Municipal Library 3. Dzagada Afadzinu Library 4. Kojo Beedu Library 5. UNIPRA North Library 6. Cape Coast Library 7. Assin Kruwa Library (under construction) 8. Assin Fosu Library (under construction) 9. Denkyira Buabenso Library 10. Dunkwa-on-Offin Library 11. Ayamfuri Library 12. Bibiani Library 13. Sefwi Wiawso Library 14. Tarkwa Library 15. Axim Library 16. Takoradi Library 17. Sekondi Library 

Strengthening Literacy and Library Services

The familiarisation exercise underscores GhLA’s ongoing commitment to revitalising public libraries as learning hubs across the country. Mr Betintiche emphasised that the Authority is dedicated to promoting reading culture, expanding access to digital learning resources, and ensuring that libraries are well-equipped to support both learners and communities.He further reiterated that the ongoing infrastructural projects, including those at Assin Kruwa and Assin Fosu, are central to the government’s broader strategy to enhance access to quality educational and information resources nationwide.
