The Ghana Education Service (GES) in collaboration with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment(NaCCA) has began a teacher orientation workshops to equip teachers with the necessary skills to implement the curriculum and provide a common understanding of concepts in the SBC .
The workshop was organized ahead of the Implementation of the new Standards Based Curriculum(SBC) in September 2019.
At an opening ceremony held today at the Eastern Premier hotel in Koforidua , the Minister of Education, Hon Mathew Opoku Prempeh urged the master trainers to be serious with the workshop so they can also train teachers well in the new curriculum.
He was optimistic that” with a positive mindset, we will succeed and improve the standard of Education in Ghana tremendously”.
The Director General of GES Professor kwasi Opoku-Amankwa and the Ag Executive Secretary of NaCCA Dr.Prince Hamid Armah took turns to address participants.
They encouraged and passionately appeal with the participants to do their very best to fully commit themselves to the sessions, as well as to the next stage of training that they will be required to lead at the Regional levels.
The training sessions are as follows:
Master Trainers: 13th-17th May 2019
National Training: 4th -8th June 2019
Regional/District:10th-21st June 2019
Cluster- Based :1st-17th July 2019
