CSSPS 2019: GES populates self-placement module with more school vacancies

The Ghana Education Service has asked candidates who were not placed in any of their five school choices or have done self-placement and wishes to change it to visit the self-placement portal.

It says that it has populated it with more school vacancies from which candidates can choose from.

Candidates who were auto placed or did self-placement and have already enrolled in Senior High School are exempted from this.

This notice was posted on social media by the Ghana Education Service.

It comes after almost a month since hundreds of BECE candidates thronged the Black Stars Square with their parents in connection with placement into senior high schools (SHSs) and technical and vocational institutes (TVIs)

The desperate parents, guardians and students besieged the Accra Solution Centre set up by the GES to handle concerns relating to the placement of prospective students in SHSs and TVIs.

In a media engagement in September, a Deputy Director-General of the GES in charge of Access and Quality, Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh, stated that over 90% of candidates who had gathered at the Accra Solution Centre had already been placed and were rather “shopping for better schools than those they have been placed”
