Top 11 Institutions/Centres at UDS and their various Campuses

The University for Development Studies (UDS), through its ICT Directorate, has set up an online system for teaching and learning as a result of the shut down of all educational institutions and the ban on public gatherings.

In a stakeholder meeting held by the University’s Management with the Students’ Representative Councils of the four UDS campuses, some concerns of the students regarding the implementation of the e-learning system were addressed.

According to an internal memorandum dated April 21, 2020, and signed by the Central SRC President, Dagungong Clement Binwatin, the online system, which has a mobile app would be made known to the university community in the coming days for easy accessibility.

The notice further stated that examinations shall not be written online unless the need arises. It added that a significant period, a minimum of two weeks will be given to students to prepare for the examinations should school resume.

Considering the various programs offered in the Institution, only the theoretical courses will be enrolled on the e-learning platform but the practical courses will be considered whenever things normalize.

Meanwhile, final year students have been advised to generate the data required for their project works through online systems and also engage their supervisors regularly to get their projects completed on time.

The SRC has disclosed that the University’s Management has completed negotiations with MTN Ghana and Vodafone Ghana to zero-rate UDS e-learning platform, hence, students may henceforth use these telecommunication networks to access the online teaching and learning.

The student body has been urged to try as much as possible to cooperate with these extraordinary interventions as no student would be disadvantaged by the e-learning initiative.
