COVID-19: Introduce more outdoor lessons for Kindergarten Learners – Educationist

COVID-19

A Political Commentator and Educationist, Marvin Asiedu has indicated, that the best option for controlling Kindergarten Learners in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic is to introduce more outdoor lessons for the learners at that level.

Marvin Asiedu, who is also a headmaster of a Primary school in an interview with Ellis Ferdinand on his Saturday morning SocioPolitical and Current Affairs show ”THE FORUM” on summer Radio, January 9, 2021, in Accra suggested that introducing more outdoor lessons at the Kindergarten shall minimise the spread of covid-19.

He added, that the congestion in the classrooms can cause an easy spread of the virus among the learners and their facilitators.

Marvin was of the view, that bringing the learners outside could solve major challenges being faced by facilitators at the Kindergarten with regards to the observation of the COVID-19 Protocols most especially with Social distancing where most of the classes are congested.

Insfrasturatural Defeciet

According to Marvin, the Infrastructural deficit in Ghanaian Schools can not be solved within a short period during the COVID-19 period.

He believes, that for learning to continue in schools, most especially the preschool level, facilitators must employ the best means available to them to be able to prevent any possible issue of COVID-19 at the Basic and Senior High Schools in the country.

He called on the government to as a matter of urgency, tackle the infrastructural challenges in the schools to allow learners to observe the Social distancing protocol while in School.

Challenges

Marvin Asiedu believes that it was going to be difficult controlling the learners at the Kindergarten level and educating them on the protocols of COVID-19.

He suggested that facilitators should allow more time for outdoor lessons whilst the learners is brought back to the classroom for writing purposes with an adherent to the protocols.

Primary and JHS

He further indicated that controlling learners at the primary and Junior High levels shall be easier than the Kindergarten learners.

He called on the facilitators to continue the covid-19 education at all levels of education including parents, guidance and the communities at large.
