EducationGhana, June 26, NaSIA: The National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) has cautioned Basic and Senior High Schools to desist from entertaining corporal punishment as a means of reinforcing learners’ behaviour in schools.
NaSIA in a statement issued by its Executive Director Haggar Hilda Ampadu indicated that it had received continuous complaints from concerned parents regarding Corporal Punishment malpractices in schools attended by their wards, which have resulted in physical and emotional repercussions on the said victims.

NaSIA indicated that such practices are considered an offence under the Corporal Punishment Policy prescribed by the Ministry of Education, which has been adopted by NaSIA.
”We hereby advise all School Proprietors to ensure such malpractices desist in their schools and encourage them to adopt best practices that promote a nurturing and safe academic environment for all Learners.” The statement said.
