The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) says discussions are ongoing with the Ghana Education Service to organise supplementary examinations for qualified candidates who could not write the recent exams, with a proposed date by February 15, 2026.
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has confirmed that discussions are currently underway with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to allow qualified candidates who were unable to write their examinations to sit for supplementary exams.
In a notice issued to members, the General Secretary of GNAT, Mr. Thomas T. Musah, indicated that the intervention targets teachers who met all requirements and were duly qualified, but could not participate in the examination due to circumstances beyond their control.
According to the statement, the proposed timeline under discussion would allow the affected candidates to write the supplementary examinations on or before February 15, 2026, pending agreement with GES.
Relief for Affected Candidates
The development brings relief to many teachers who had earlier expressed concern about missing the examination despite meeting eligibility criteria.
GNAT’s engagement with GES is aimed at ensuring fairness, inclusion, and administrative justice within the promotion and assessment process.
GNAT Assures Continued Engagement
Mr. Musah assured members that GNAT remains committed to protecting the professional interests of teachers and will keep engaging GES until a final resolution is reached.
“Discussions are ongoing with GES to intervene with supplementary exams for those who met the requirements and qualified but could not write the exams,” the statement noted.
Further details are expected once an official decision is reached and communicated by the Ghana Education Service.
