Outstanding Scholar Honored at 57th Congregation, Sessions 10–12
Accra, Ghana — April 2025 – Cudjoe Martin, hailing from Denu in the Volta Region, has been named Overall Best Graduating Student of the University of Cape Coast College of Distance Education (UCCCoDE), achieving an exceptional 3.9 CGPA out of 4.0. He delivered the valedictory address during the 10th–12th sessions of CoDE’s 57th Congregation, inspiring peers and faculty alike.
From Denu to Distinction
Martin’s academic journey began at Kasoa Methodist Basic School and Steps to Christ Preparatory School (JHS), followed by secondary education at Potsin T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School. He pursued a Bachelor of Commerce in Management through CoDE’s distance-learning program while actively engaging in his local community.
A Scholar of Character and Passion
Beyond academics, Martin is a devout member of the Christian Fellowship Church and a passionate football supporter—cheering for Kumasi Asante Kotoko locally and Chelsea FC in the UK. He credits his success to the mentorship of Professor Philip Ebow Bondzi-Simpson, Founding Dean of the Law Faculty at the University of Cape Coast.
“I owe much to Professor Bondzi-Simpson’s guidance,” Martin said. “His example taught me discipline, critical thinking, and service.”
An avid reader and music enthusiast, Martin balanced rigorous study with personal interests, demonstrating the resilience and time-management skills emblematic of distance-education learners.
Valedictory Address Highlights Future Vision
In his valedictory speech, Martin urged fellow graduates to leverage their education for national development. He challenged them to embrace lifelong learning and ethical leadership:
“Our CGPAs reflect hard work, but our true measure will be the impact we make in our communities,” he stated.
CoDE Leadership Congratulates Top Graduate
Dr. Ama Serwaa Ampofo, Dean of CoDE, praised Martin’s achievement as “a testament to the transformative power of distance education.” She encouraged upcoming students to emulate his dedication.
As the best graduating student, Martin received a plaque, CoDE’s highest academic honor, and will be featured in the College’s alumni spotlight. His story underscores the possibilities within Ghana’s distance-learning framework and sets a benchmark for future cohorts.
