The Ghana Education Service (GES) has said that teachers at the Kindergarten to the Junior High Schools should use their First 8 weeks after resumption of School for the 2020/21 Academic year to do recovery learning.
According to the GES, teachers should use the first 8 weeks to help the learners recover their learning loses which came about as a result of the unexpected closure of schools due to COVID-19.
The GES in a letter dated December 8, 2021, to all regional directors of education and signed by its Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Assurance for the Director-General , Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh indicated that the decision was due to its cognisant of the negative impact of the prolonged school closures on learning.
The GES said , due to the use of the first 8 weeks for recovery learning intervention, the training of JHS Teachers on the CCP Curriculum has been postponed to an unconfirmed date.
