The Public Affairs Directorate of the University of Ghana, in collaboration with the Department of Communication Studies, organized a two-day training workshop for Public Affairs Officers to enhance news writing, editing, and journalistic ethics.
The Public Affairs Directorate (PAD) of the University of Ghana has partnered with the Department of Communication Studies to organise a two-day training workshop aimed at improving the communication skills of Public Affairs Officers and communication professionals across various units of the University.
The workshop, which brought together reporters, editors, and other communication personnel, focused on enhancing essential skills in news writing, proofreading, editing, journalistic ethics, and the use of precise language. The event was facilitated by prominent experts in the field, including Prof. Audrey Gadzekpo and Dr. Sarah Akrofi-Quarcoo from the Department of Communication Studies, University of Ghana, and Mr. Kofi Akpabli, a renowned journalist and Senior Lecturer from the Department of Communication and Media Studies at Central University.
Dr. Elizier Ameyaw-Buronyah, Director of Public Affairs at the University of Ghana, emphasized the importance of the workshop in unifying communication efforts across the institution. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone involved in communicating about the University operates with a unified approach,” said Dr. Ameyaw-Buronyah. She encouraged participants to apply the newly acquired knowledge in their daily tasks and to extend the training to colleagues within their respective departments.
The workshop underscores the University’s commitment to fostering excellence in communication and public affairs, ensuring that the institution’s messaging is professional, clear, and cohesive.
