UG students to get scholarship opportunities from Jagenollian University

The University of Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jagenollian University, Poland to provide scholarship opportunities to students and promote research collaboration among faculty.

Prof. Adam Jelonek, Rector’s representative for Internationalisation, Jagenollian University Poland, who signed the MoU on behalf of Jagenollian University noted that the MoU, the first to be entered outside Europe, aims at exploring opportunities for exchange programmes with the University of Ghana.

The target for the exchange programme, according to Prof. Jelonek will be faculty, undergraduates, as well as PhD. Science students.

Prof. Jelonek explained that, the Jagenollian University hopes to provide scholarship opportunities for three students each year, adding that, the exchange programme will not only benefit faculty but also administrative staff.

He disclosed that the Dean of the University of Ghana Law School, Prof. Raymond Atuguba was already in talks with the Law Department of Jagenollian University and was optimistic that notable results will soon manifest.

Prof. Samuel Kwame Offei, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs) who signed the MoU on behalf of the University of Ghana expressed appreciation to Jagenollian University for choosing to collaborate with the University of Ghana and hoped the relationship will be deepened.

Present at the signing ceremony were Prof. Francis Dodoo, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Research Innovation and Development; Prof. Samuel Agyei Mensah, Provost, College of Humanities; Prof. Raymond Atuguba, Dean, University of Ghana School of Law, Prof. Kwaku Tano Debrah, Dean, School of Graduate Studies; Prof. Emmanuel Debrah, Director, Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD), Dr. Olivia Anku Tsede, Head Legal Counsel, Dr. Ibrahim Bedi, Acting Director, Internal Audit, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo, College Secretary, College of Basic and Applied Sciences and Mr. Daniel Hormeku, Assistant Registrar, International Programmes Office (IPO).

As part of the visit, Prof. Jelonek paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu and also had brief engagements with officials at the International Programmes Office (IPO), School of Graduate Studies, Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD), and the West African Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI).
