University of Ghana Students Representative Council legal advisor, Kwame Adusei, has resigned from his office.
He becomes the second legal advisor to have abandoned the position in a span of six months after Prosper Batariwah did same under strange circumstances after the nullification of the election of Emmanuel Adjei Ampem as Speaker of the SRC General Assembly.
Kwame Adusei took office weeks after his predecessor had resigned. He acted as the interim legal advisor until his swearing-in on February 10, 2020.
His resignation comes at a moment where the SRC President, Isaac Agyemang, risks losing his office after the SRC Judicial Board found him guilty on two grounds of impeachment.
Announcing his resignation, Kwame Adusei said that “although I cannot describe my tenure as Legal Advisor to have been enjoyable, I have learned so much, which I will definitely take with me throughout my career.”
This development leaves the fate of the SRC President hanging in the yet to be heard case before the Appeals Board of the SRC.

With Isaac Agyemang hoping to survive the storm, a new legal advisor for the Council will have to be appointed with speed to continue with the impeachment case.
Meanwhile, some members of the General Assembly had earlier threatened to ensure that Kwame Adusei is removed as SRC legal advisor for ‘being used’ to reinstate Emmanuel Adjei Ampem as Speaker.
