Winneba, Ghana– Dr. Alfred Kuranchie, a distinguished scholar from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has joined forces with an international team of researchers to advance climate change education.

The collaborative effort, which includes experts from India, Finland, and Ghana, has recently secured €10,000 in funding to conduct an extensive study on climate change pedagogy.

The research team comprises Dr. Heidi Layne, University of Jyvaskyla (Project Lead); Dr. Sajitha Bashir, Vice-Chairperson of Vakkom Moulavi Foundation Trust in Kerala, India; Dr. Anu Joy, Assistant Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Hyderabad, India;

Prof. Tiina Kontinen, Associate Professor in International Development Studies at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland; Dr. Hannele Cantell from the University of Helsinki, Finland; Kristof Fenyvesi and Orsolya Tuba, advocates for Indo-Finnish collaborations in education for sustainability; and Apoorwa Hooda, GINTL Kerala coordinator.

The €10,000 funding boost will support the team’s comprehensive study on climate change pedagogy, aiming to enhance understanding and education in this critical field. The collaboration underscores the importance of global cooperation in addressing climate change challenges and fostering sustainable education practices.

Dr. Alfred Kuranchie, representing UEW in this initiative, expressed his commitment to contributing valuable insights to climate change education. The international collaboration seeks to create impactful strategies that can be applied globally, addressing the urgent need for climate literacy and awareness.
