UCC Distance Students to get GH¢700 annual Scholarships

Students of the University of Cape Coast College of Distance Education (UCC CoDE) are expected to receive a GH¢700 annual scholarships from the Distance Education Students Association of Ghana of the University of Cape Coast (DESAG-UCC).

The National President of the Association, Nana Dwuma made this revelation during a symposium organized on Monday, December 28, 2020, by the Greater Accra Regional Chapter of the Distance Education Students Association of Ghana, University of Cape Coast (DESAG UCC).

Criteria for selection

Speaking on the criteria for the selection of beneficiaries, the President said the scholarship window was opened to all students of the Association who have good academic standing from the university with a CGPA  of 2.5 and above.

The president further indicated, that each student qualifies for the scholarship within one academic year and can be renewed every year or new entrants allowed every year.

Challenges

According to the president, his regime has faced a lot of challenges due to the COVID-19 Pandemic that took the world by surprise.

He indicated, that the pandemic has affected all activities of the Association leading to the inability of the Association to organize its annual National Delegates Congress to elect new leaders for the Association at regional and national levels.

Future Prospects

The President was optimistic that the COVID-19 pandemic shall be minimized for Govern,ent to lift its restrictions on some major gatherings in order to make way for their Congrees in 2021.

He also said that the future leadership of the Association should make it a point to work harder to overcome the excesses of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Alumni

The DESAG National President called on the old students and continuing students to make it a point to project the activities of the long-awaited Alumni.

To him, the Alumni shall be a strong force behind the future success o the Association if it stands its test of time.
