TTAG has directed all teacher trainees nationwide to resume academic activities on Monday, February 9, 2026, following fresh engagements on the ongoing CETAG strike.

TTAG Issues Updated Advisory to Teacher Trainees

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has officially directed all teacher trainees across the country to resume academic activities on Monday, February 9, 2026, following recent developments in the ongoing CETAG industrial action.

In a press release dated February 8, 2026, and referenced TTAG/NS/RLS/2026/479, the National Secretariat clarified its earlier directive issued at the height of the strike.

Background to the Earlier Directive

At the peak of the unresolved strike by the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG), TTAG formally advised teacher trainees to remain at home. The Association explained that effective teaching and learning could not take place under the prevailing circumstances.

According to TTAG, that directive was issued in good faith and in the best academic interest of trainees nationwide.

Trainees Advised to Resume on February 9

However, following fresh engagements and indications that steps are being taken to address CETAG’s concerns, TTAG has now strongly advised all trainees to report to their respective colleges and resume academic work as directed by institutional authorities.

The Association emphasized that academic activities should continue in accordance with instructions from college management.

TTAG Clarifies Media Reports

TTAG also addressed what it described as inaccurate media reports suggesting that the Association had called for a complete restart of the academic calendar.

The Secretariat clarified that it did not demand a restart. Instead, it advocated for the recovery of the three weeks of instructional time lost due to the strike action.

Commitment to Academic Fairness

The Association reaffirmed its commitment to transparent communication, academic fairness, and the welfare of teacher trainees across Ghana.

The statement was jointly signed by:

  • Victor Atsu Anyidoho, General Secretary
  • Nanlia Divine, President

The release was copied to all media houses.
