Teachers without Degrees to be out of the System after 2022/23 Academic Year

Teachers at the Pre-Tertiary Schools shall be expected to obtain their Degrees to prevent being sacked after the 2022/23 Academic year, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has indicated.

The  Deputy Director-General of the GES,Mr. Anthony Boateng made this revelation at a GES Workshop on Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP) held at Larteh in the Eastern region.

The Deputy Director-General indicated that though teachers without degrees shall not be sacked, they shall be allowed to upgrade themselves but those who would not be able to upgrade themselves will be out of the system.

Mr. Anthony Boateng added, that from the 2022/23 Academic Year, the Ghana Education Service shall consider the posting of only degree holders to schools across the country while those with a diploma will be given the opportunity to upgrade themselves.

Private Schools

The Deputy Director-General said Private schools shall be exempted from the GES as part of the ongoing reforms in the educational sector.

He added that the new reforms will see Private schools placed under the National Inspectorate Board (NIB), an agency under the auspices of the Education Ministry instead of the Ghana Education Service.
