EducationGhana| June 21| Teachers to demonstrate, strike after June 30 if 20% COLA is not Paid:
The Central Regional Secretary of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ghana (CCT-GH), Amos Amoako has said that all workers including teachers shall embark on a series of demonstrations should the government decide not to pay them 20% COLA.
The statement further indicated that the Central Regional Chapter of the Union was backing the request by the mother union for government to offer a Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) of 20% to all public sector workers of which teachers were included.
PURPOSE
The statement said the request was due to the current rate of inflation as well as the economic conditions of the country.
Mr Amoako further emphasized that the call for the COLA cannot be exchanged for anything at this time of economic hardships in the country.
CAUTION
The statement indicated, that if the government does not offer workers the 20% COLA by June 30, 2022., then workers will have no option but to organize a series of demonstrations and lay down their tools in the long run.
