Suspension of Levies in Schools still in Force;GES not against Operation of PTAs – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has emphasized its decision to suspend the collection of levies in all pub;ic basic schools.

The Director General of the Ghana Education Service ,Prof. Kwesi Opoku Amankwa in a press statement issued on September 5,2019

clearly reminded heads of basic schools of its decision to suspend the collection of all levies.

The Director General further stated that the GES was not against the operation of the Parents,Teachers Associations in schools.

The statement said the focus of the GES was to ensure no child was denied access to education because of PTA levies.

”Management is not against operations of PTA. Our focus is to ensure no child is denied access to education because of PTA levies.”

”Management will continue to work with District directors and Heads to ensure that terminal examinations are conducted smoothly.”

”A committee of experts currently re-examining the role and responsibilities of parents to guide Management decision on PTA moving forward” He said.
